Drawing From Nature Week 4

On Wednesday Richard set us a task to go on the computer to find and draw a medicinal plant, once we did a drawing of the plant we then had to go out side. Using chalk we drew our plant on the wall making a mural of medicinal plants.

On Thursday Richard told us about our individual projects which is based around the theme Nature. Later on in the day we all went to the Auckland Art Gallery. My favourite art piece would have to be the mirror room, because once you were inside it felt as if you falling, after taking many crazy photo with Emily we then decided to look at other art pieces. My most favourite piece was Alan Sonfist's piece, Crystal Enclosure, I liked this art piece because it always changes, it never stays the same.

Learning Success Week 4

On Monday in Learning Success I learnt about art galleries and the rules when inside a gallery, we also learnt difference between a public art galleries which have permanent collections and touring collections for the public, where else private/dealer galleries have art work which can be sold to the public.

Later on that day we all went to Papakura Art Gallery to see Emma's art work:

I liked this piece because it looks like a puzzle, where each piece has an item which each person in class can remember when they were younger, as if your putting the all your memories together.

Tuesday we were in the computer suite, learning more skills on Photoshop, changing the brightness/contrass, levels, vibrance on a photograph. We had to make postcard sized photographs and print them out.
Here are my finished post cards:

Drawing From Nature Week 3

On Wednesday in Drawing From Nature, Richard told us to go outside in the park and draw 3 pictures, one a close up, a landscape and a in between drawing.

After drawing these pictures, we then staring drawing in pastels and charcoal.

These are the pictures I drew using charcoal, we first starting drawing  our plant by not looking at the paper but at the plant instead.

We then got to draw the plant again but this time with more detail.

At the end of the day Emma showed us how to make pictures looking more like drawings on Photoshop by using filter and gray scale.

On Thursday we went outside and picked a few leaves we thought would be interesting to make a pattern out of, then with our final piece we then used different coloured inks to add colour to our pattern, unfortunately i had trouble using the inks because the colours would blend together, but i eventually got it right... kinda...

Next time i plan on bringing my own brushes, especially my thin brushes as I had trouble putting ink in the middle without blending the colours together as much.

Learning Success Week 3

On Monday in learning success I learnt about mono printing, and how mono printing means one print. I also learnt about the types of line use in art, weather it's cross hatching or continuous line. We then went into the computer suite and did an artist research who used line in their works. The artist I chose was Bridget Riley because of her use of line, especially how she makes her work look as if its moving.
Name: Movement In Squares
Artist: Bridget Riley

Year: 1961

I also learnt that line can give an illusion to artist works.
On Tuesday we had to do a test on both English and Math. We also learnt how to use photo shop, learning about what each button, which i found difficult. Later on that day we had to take pictures of our work and use Bridge to edit them... I think, i'm not sure, because unfortunately mine and my partner, Emily, camera wasn't functioning properly.

To improve my skills, I will continue to use Photoshop and also make more notes on how to each tool works.
